Child Online Protection in India

Contributed by a member of the RISE Community • October 6th, 2016

UNICEF commissioned the assessment of child online protection in India to better understand the online risks faced by children, to identify gaps in legislation, to ensure removal of harmful online materials, to support investigation and law enforcement and to identify services for child victims of online exploitation and abuse. The aim of the study was to identify priority interventions for the Government, Information and Communication Technologies companies, non-governmental organizations and international agencies. The study provides a comprehensive overview of the current situation of child online safety based on the available data. It is a resource that should help any organization working on various aspects of child online protection to enhance their awareness of existing gaps and understand where to improve their own interventions and where to strengthen collaboration and coordination with other stakeholders.
